What documents can be notarized online?

Common documents include acknowledgements & jurats, powers of attorney, real estate agreements, retirement beneficiary changes, business contracts and bills of sale.

What requirements are there for remote notarization?

State Authorization-  Your state must legally permit RON.  As of July 2025 the only states not allowing RON Services is District of Columbia, Georgia & North Carolina.

Identity Verification- Typically includes government-issued ID, knowledge-based questions, or credential analysis through RON approved platform. 

Electronic Signing & Sealing- Signatures, stamps/seals, notorial workding, and journal entries are all applied electronically. 

Working Audio/ Video Technology- You must have access to a desktop computer with audio/video equipment and knowledge of how to work equipment.

 

What is satisfactory Identification in Florida?

Present one valid government-issued ID that is either current or issued within the last 5 years, with a photo, signature, and serial number. Acceptable forms include:

  • Florida driver’s license or ID card

  • U.S. passport

  • Foreign passport stamped by U.S. immigration (RON permits foreign passports not requiring a stamp)

  • Out-of-state or U.S. territory driver’s license/ID

  • Canadian or Mexican driver’s license/ID

  • U.S. military ID

  • VA veteran health ID

  • Inmate ID from FL Dept. of Corrections or Federal Bureau of Prisons (issued after Jan 1, 1991)

  • USCIS identification card 

Can any notary provide Remote Online Notary services?

No.  You must be a state-approved RON provider with a compliant RON technology provider, a RON-specific surety bond & errors and omissions insurance.  You can find RON approved notaries through https://online-notary.sunbiz.org/

Do you carry Insurance?

Yes.  Wandering Nest carries a $1,000,000 E&O Policy.
